Everyday New Orleans Info Session
Date: Wednesday, January 31, 6pm-7pm
NOPA Gallery: 1111 St. Mary Street, New Orleans
In partnership with The New Orleans Museum of Art and The Everyday Projects, the New Orleans Photo Alliance are looking for members of NOPA and the local photo community who would like get involved as educators with Everyday New Orleans, a community outreach initiative whose mission is to engage participants in using photography to challenge stereotypes and promote a broader understanding of life across diverse locales in the Greater New Orleans region.
We are looking for photographers who are comfortable teaching a documentary-style curriculum to groups of 20 or more participants of varied ages and backgrounds. As this project is community-engaged and seeks to challenge stereotypes and media representations of New Orleans, this experience is ideal for photographers who are from New Orleans or have been rooted in the city for a length of time.
Eddie Lanieri (Education Chair at the New Orleans Photo Alliance) and Allison Young (Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Fellow for Modern and Contemporary Art, New Orleans Museum of Art) will be presenting an information session on this project on January 31 from 6-7pm at the NOPA Gallery, 1111 St. Mary Street, New Orleans.
If you are unable to attend and interested in becoming a photographer educator with this project, please contact us for more information at:
If you know a photographer who would like to use their skills and knowledge to give back to their community, please feel free to share this information.
