Michael Elliott-SmithMEMBER SINCE 2015 I am a fine art photographer living in Alexandria, LA. For many years, I photographed landscapes with a medium format camera usually loaded with infrared film. In 2004, digital was having such an impact on the film market that the infrared film and the darkroom papers I used were no longer produced. I resisted the move into digital but the time had come. That same year, I received the Louisiana Division of the Arts Visual Arts Fellowship which helped transition into digital. Once I understood the power of this format, I began to produce surreal/narrative prints that consists of a number of images, constructed places that only exist in my imagination.
My works have exhibited nationally in over 130 juried exhibitions. In 2013, my print, The Botanical Gardens, took the 1st place award at the prestigious Art Melt juried exhibition held in Baton Rouge.
