Chris Mickal, a retired District Chief from NOFD, and founder and current member of the NOFD Photo Unit, will share his photos of NOFD”s work during Katrina. His photos are from the unique perspective of a first responder documenting the work of his fellow firefighters serving under devastating circumstances.
Chris Mickal joined the NOFD in 1980 and worked up to the rank of District Chief. As a District Chief, he was in charge of the second district, which is the French Quarter and downtown district for 15 years. He was chief of Public Affairs for 10 years. Chris created, and still runs, the Photo Unit for the fire department.
