The New Orleans Photo Alliance is pleased to present Combat Camera: The Women Behind the Lens, an exhibition featuring official and personal photographs by women in all branches of the military who have served their country as photographers.
Every branch of the military employs combat photographers whose purpose is to visually record all aspects of military life and service. This exhibition pairs official photographs from the soldiers’ military experience with personal images made off duty. In juxtaposing official and civilian images, the exhibition draws attention to the differences between, or the intersections of, service women’s personal and professional lives. This exhibit will be displayed in conjunction with Fleet Week 2018 New Orleans as part of Tricentennial NOLA Navy Week and Tall Ships of America.
