The exhibit will run from December 2 through December 30 at the CAC. Selected books will be on view in a museum space that will function as a library and reading room, allowing visitors the opportunity to review the books.
Seth Curcio, associate director of the San Francisco gallery Pier 24 Photography, is serving as juror for the competition.
The competition is open to self-published, as well as commercially published books, as long as they were produced after January 1, 2012. Books will be evaluated on the strength of their images, as well as the editing and sequencing of those images. At the same time, books will be evaluated as physical objects, as well as for their layout and design.
All submissions, including those not selected, will be documented and featured on an exhibit Tumblr blog. Books not selected for the PhotoNOLA-connected exhibition will be considered for future CAC exhibits and public viewing opportunities.
