The Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette, LA is holding its fourth Southern Open, a juried exhibition featuring artists from the 5 southern states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.
Taking place in the Main gallery at the AcA, Southern Open is open to all visual artists over 18 years of age who are not presently in a degree-seeking program. Entries can include all types of media; photography, video/DVD and multimedia installations. Works that are original, completed within the past two years and not previously exhibited at the AcA will qualify for submission.
Juror is Bill Arning, Director of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston since April 2009.
A juror’s pick award of $1,000 and two $600 will be announced at the opening reception on May 8, 2010, 6-8pm. Juror’s pick award will also receive a solo exhibition as part of the AcA’s Side Gallery Series during May 2011. Purchase awards ranging from $500 to $2500 will be awarded at the artist reception on May8, 2010, 4-6pm.

Standard entry fees are $20 for up to five entries, $5 for each additional submissions, 10 entries maximum. AcA members may enter up to five free submissions. Additional submissions (10 total) are $5 each.
