During the 1980s and 90s, Polo Silk would set up spray painted backdrops (painted by his cousin) outside of New Orleans’ clubs. He would then take his trusty Polaroid camera “Chelsey” and take portraits of the patrons. Over the years he became acquainted with many New Orleans artists at the beginning of their careers like Lil Wayne, Juvenile, DJ Jubilee and Big Freedia, but his collection of Polaroid portraits span hundreds of the city’s citizens.
