Black and white workshop set for April 1-3 in NOLA

  • by

Michael A. Smith and Paula Chamlee will be conducting a black and white film photography workshop, “Vision & Technique,” in New Orleans on April 1-3. The instructors use large format view cameras, but the workshop is open to users of all film formats, including 35mm.

All aspects of film photography will be covered in the weekend workshop, including developing film by inspection, printing, and proper camera use. All technical matters, the instructors note, will be discussed as a function of vision.

Tuition is $695, including a $100 deposit. Enrollment will be limited to eight participants. This workshop will run from the evening of Friday, April 1 to the late afternoon of Sunday afternoon, April 3.

Michael A. Smith received a commission from the Historic New Orleans Collection in the 1980s to photograph the Crescent City. His work is available for viewing there.
