NOTICE: this closing has been canceled.

Austin-based photographer, Sarah Wilson, winner of the 2008 PhotoNOLA Review Prize, has her Blind Prom photography project on display at the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery through January 24th.

This series features images Wilson took during several of the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired’s prom nights, including shots of them getting ready, candids of the event, and formal portraits of the students.

The reception will follow a screening of the documentary ‘The Eyes of Me’ at Zeitgeist at 5pm. Wilson was the stills photographer for this production, and it is where she was first introduced to The Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

THE EYES OF ME by visiting filmmaker Keith Maitland. An up-close look at four teens who have lost their sight. Set in Austin, TX, this film follows their high school experiences of dating, academic responsibilities, fitting in, family problems and preparing for college over the course of one dynamic year at the Texas School For the Blind and Visually Impaired. Co-presented by the New Orleans Photo Alliance.
