Some exciting news about our Elemental/Environmental: SPACE juror, Gary Braasch via The Maine Photo Workshops.
Braasch Images Featured on UN Stamps
The images of environmental photographer and Workshops instructor, Gary Braasch were published by the United Nations in a set of six international postage stamps
illustrating climate change.
This is one of the few times a single photographer provided the images for a full set of stamps, the information booklet and first day covers – 30 photos in all. The stamps are part of a worldwide UN drive to encourage action to limit global warming. The book from which many of the images were drawn, Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is Changing the World, will be released in a paperback edition in Spring 2009 with praise from Al Gore and Bill McKibben.
Gary is an assignment photographer forSmithsonian, Audubon, Discover and Natural History magazines on environment stories. Recent assignments have taken him from Antarctica to the Peruvian Amazon and under the Pacific Ocean. He will lead his Nature & the Environmentworkshop in Rockport July 5 – 11.
