The Kerckhoff Art Gallery is an intimate gallery located in the center
of the UCLA campus, which draws in hundreds of people each day. The
gallery is managed by the UCLA Cultural Affairs Commission. Our
mission is to spark thought and dialogue on social and contemporary
issues within the community.
We will be curating an exhibition in remembrance of the Hurricane
Katrina disaster and the current conditions which continue to leave
New Orleans in devastation. Our goal for this event is to bring
awareness of the situation while highlighting the American musical
phenomenon of jazz music.
**Therefore, as a tribute to the distinct culture of New Orleans, we
are currently seeking artists in the local LA community with any type
of art pertaining to a variety of avenues from the jazz scene to Mardi
Gras and everything in between!**
The work will be displayed from February 25-31, 2007. With direct
exposure to thousands of students and faculty at UCLA, this exhibition
will allow the viewers to assess the current state in the New Orleans
and hopefully compel them to take action in any way possible to the
relief of such a devastation.
Please send attachments of your personal work to
KERCKHOFFARTGALLERY@GMAIL.COM along with a short synopsis of yourself
and your work by Sunday, February 17. No late submissions accepted.
Best regards,
Catherine Yan
