Call for Submissions – Press Street

  • by

Press Street and Rebuilding Together invite you to submit text and photographs for a new book on New Orleans’ recovery.

We want to hear your stories of the incredible renaissance of community led initiatives since the storm.

The book spotlights the resilience and creativity of local individuals and groups who have rallied to fill the civic voids left in the wake of the destruction: those who hand-painted replacement street signs, turned their restaurants or homes into soup kitchens, and started or reopened businesses against all odds; citizen groups who tend our parks, clean our streets, lobby for stronger levees, and organize campaigns to counter crime and violence; artists and cultural institutions whose work helps people stay hopeful and engaged.

We will feature stories from across the city’s varied demographics to present an inspiring reflection of the strength and resolve of ordinary New Orleanians rebuilding in extraordinary ways.

The book will be a large, full-color, hardback. Submissions should be between 250 and 750 words and all photographs must have the full permission of the photographer. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Preservation Resource Center’s Rebuilding Together program.

Please send submissions or forward us the contact information for stories you think would be appropriate to Tristan Thompson at

or

Deadline for submissions is July 15th.
Thanks for your contribution.
