The New Orleans Photo Alliance (NOPA), is proud to present Catalyst, a juried exhibition featuring the work of 18 photographers from across the United States.
Catalyst commemorates the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and focuses on themes of rebirth, rejuvenation, and transformation, celebrating the cultural vibrancy of post-Katrina New Orleans and the idea that prolific creation can come from destruction.
Artists selected for the exhibition are: Muffin Bernstein, Nicholas Fedak II, Terri Garland, Alison Gootee, Carol Guzy, Camille Lenain, Charles Lovell, Claire Mallet, Samantha Melfi, Caroyn Metzler, David Rae Morris, Eric Nunez, Thomas Pearson, Jared Ragland, Rebecca Rau, Karel Sloane-Boekbinder, Leona Strassberg Steiner, Mary Lou Uttermohlen.
The exhibition opens in the NOPA Gallery, 1111 St. Mary St., on Saturday, August 29, 2015 and will run through November 15th. An artist’s reception is scheduled for September 5th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Artists and the juror will be in attendance.
About the Juror:
Alan F. Rothschild, Jr, is Director of The Do Good Fund. The Do Good Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity based in Columbus, Georgia. Since its founding in 2012, the Fund has focused on building a museum-quality collection of contemporary Southern photography, including works by emerging photographers. Do Good’s mission is to make its collection broadly accessible through regional museums, nonprofit galleries and nontraditional venues, and to encourage complimentary, community-based programming to accompany each exhibition.
