The Darkroom of New Orleans will host an opening for its exhibition of the work Tokyo-based photographer LeRoy Howard on Saturday, Oct. 2 in connection with Art for Art’s Sake. The exhibit, titled “The Moment,” will feature Howard’s gelatin silver photographs printed on aluminum.
According to the Darkroom, “These images examine that moment of realization, of awareness that something important has happened. In doing so they present narratives that illustrate values that resonate throughout our society and culture.” The narratives are said to address issues such as loyalty and betrayal, shock and pain, and grief and loss, as well as awareness and transcendence.
The exhibit opening will take place Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The Darkroom is located at 1927 Sophie Wright Place in the Lower Garden District.
