The Colorado-based Center for Fine Art Photography is seeking entrants for its “Portraits 2014” exhibit, with Amy Arbus serving as juror. The deadline for entry is Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013. Meanwhile, the Center has extended entry for a portfolio showcase competition to Monday, Dec. 2.

Portraits 2014, With Amy Arbus
The exhibit is scheduled for March 7 to April 5, 2014, at the Center in Fort Collins, Co., with a concurrent online exhibition planned. Entry is open to photographers worldwide, whether professional or amateur. The entry fee is $20 for Center members and $35 for non-members, for up to three images. Additional image submissions will cost $10 apiece for members and non-members.
Juror Amy Arbus has published five books, including “The Fourth Wall,” “The Inconvenience of Being Born” and “On the Street: 1980-1990.” Her commercial clients have included Chiat/Day, American Express, Saatchi & Saatchi and New Line Cinema. And, Arbus’ photographs have appeared in more than 100 periodicals. Her photos a part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, among other museums. She is the daughter of photographer Diane Arbus.
Awards will include:
- Juror’s Selection: Includes a solo exhibit and a feature in the exhibition catalog
- Director’s Selection: Feature in the exhibition catalog
- 2 Livebooks Website Awards: Valued at $399 from liveBooks.com
- Honorable Mention Awards: Includes a two-year Center membership and a free, three image submission to one of its calls for for entry.
Portfolio ShowCase Volume 7
Fifteen photographers will have 12-image portfolios exhibited online in connection with this competition, with one selected for a solo exhibit at the Center in Fort Collins. Alexa Becker, the acquisitions editor for photography and art books for Kehrer Verlag in Heidelberg, Germany, will serve as juror.
Entry for a first portfolio of 12 images is $50 for members and $85 for non-members. Applicants will sign up for membership during entry will automatically receive the discounted entry fee. Additional portfolios may be submitted for $85 each, for members and non-members.
