The Phantasmagorical Clarence John Laughlin explores the amazing life of an enigmatic genius.
Laughlin was considered the Father of American Surrealistic Photography but due to his difficult personality he never received the recognition and acclaim he deserved. Although he had a limited formal education he was an avid book collector and amassed 30,000 rare book in his attic loft in the historic Pontalba building in the New Orleans.
The documentary is the only video of Clarence in his book filled home and weaves together his passion for books, his remarkable images and his fascinating and volatile personal life, including his five marriages and his alienation of his peers.
Clarence John Laughlin is truly phantasmagorical!

Gene Fredericks, the director will show and then answer questions about the film.
