The New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery
“Through the eyes of five Ukrainian photographers and artists — Sasha Theodora, Arsenii Gerasymenko, Pavlo Dorohoi, Oleksii Furman, and Bohdan Poshyvailo — Freedom or Death bridges the gap of understanding about a culture that may not be well understood and emboldens desires for decolonization of the centuries-long r*ssification of Ukraine and Ukrainian culture. Guest curator Sasha Theodora seeks for the exhibition to display the r*ssian war in a wider scope and to contextualize Ukraine’s long fight for freedom.”
Exhibition sales directly support Ukraine. Main charities include:
- The Heritage Emergency Response Initiative (HERI), emergency response to cultural destruction
- Kharkiv-based Charity Fund “Volunteers: Adults – Children”, supporting families with children
- Save Ukraine, working to return Ukrainian children held by Russia
- and several others known personally by photographers.
