French Market District seeking entrants for photo contest

  • by

New Orleans’ French Market District is seeking what is is calling “quirky, quaint, and quintessential” photos of its site–the oldest public market in the United States–for an inaugural photo contest. The deadline for entry is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011.

Winning photographs of the French Market contest will be exhibited at the site from Nov. 17, when its annual tree lighting is held, through the end of the year.

All winners will be granted gift certificates that can be exchanged at the district’s restaurants and shops, totaling $300 for the first prize winner, $200 for second prize, and $100 for third prize. The certificates will be good for use through December 31, 2011.

Entry is limited to five photographs per person. Submissions should be sent in digital JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) format to akirk@frenchmarket.org with “PHOTO CONTEST” in the subject header. For other entry specifications, please see the contest announcement at the French Market website.
