IRevelar
Inaugural Photography Competition
ATLANTA, GA (9 July 2008) – Naomi Silva Gallery announces its new venture, IRevelar, which commences with its inaugural photography competition and will continue as an interactive photography website. IRevelar is an opportunity for photographers to have their work reviewed by a distinguished panel of jurors, exhibited at Naomi Silva Gallery, and promoted on the IRevelar website, www.irevelar.com. IRevelar is currently accepting entries for the competition, for which the theme is “Reveal.” Winners will become part of a month-long exhibition, entitled “The Revealing”, October 10 – November 8, 2008, in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP).
Born out of her passion for the art of photography, Naomi Silva conceived of IRevelar as the first of many steps towards placing a stronger emphasis on the photographic arts through her gallery. The gallery, located in the Tula Arts Center, has long enjoyed the privilege of representing artists with inventive conceptual and distinctive artistic visions. Naomi Silva believes that this has best been accomplished, throughout the years, by the representation of a very diverse group of photographers, including: Luciana Abait, Patrizia Guerresi, Guillermo Kahlo, Leo Matiz, Lily Smernou, Richard Hill, Ezio Todesco, and Vicente Wolf.
IRevelar’s inaugural competition boasts an exceptional and diverse panel of jurors from across the country. Jurors include Rick Pérez, assistant director of Stephen Cohen Gallery in Los Angeles, California; George Slade, artistic director of Minnesota Center for Photography in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Clint Willour, curator of Galveston Arts Center in Galveston, Texas.
The jurors will consider film, digital, and photo-based mixed media and the deadline for submissions is Wednesday, August 20th at 8pm EDT. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 3rd at 2pm EST. Please visit www.irevelar.com for more information.
