“Street corners. Parking lots. My backyard. Your backyard. Under a
banana canopy; photographs of strangers and friends made during times
strong, times intimate, that end in times of familiarity and comfort.
These photographs are just the start of a long relationship.” – Zack
Over the last 10 years, Zack Smith has documented the social landscape
and the faces and personalities that surround him. From his street
dwelling neighbors during his squatting days in Montana, his close
friends during backyard parties and portrait sessions, and folks
passing in front of his lens; Smith has captured a wide cross section
of randomness and familiarity through his portraits.
His portrait work has been featured in national and local magazines
including recently: URB, Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, Parenting,
Relix, New Orleans Magazine, and Antigravity Magazine. The last 8
years have been spent working as a freelance photographer in New
Orleans, as his client roster of musicians, actors, and bands grow.
