NOPA seeking entrants for CURRENTS 2013 through Sept. 15

NOPA is seeking entries now through Sunday, Sept. 15 for CURRENTS 2013: NOPA Members Showcase. The annual exhibit will open in December at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, in connection with the annual PhotoNOLA festival.

The annual exhibit was created to highly contemporary work created by NOPA members. The 2013 show will include work by as many as 15 Alliance members, with five or more images from each photographer.

CURRENTS 2013 will open on December 12 and run through January 5, 2014. Its opening reception is set for Friday, Dec. 13

Virginia photographer Gordon Stettinius is serving as this year’s juror for CURRENTS. His work has been exhibited internationally over past two decades, and is found in many private and public collections. In 2010, he founded Candela Books, a fine arts publisher, and an associated gallery in the downtown arts district of Richmond, Va..

In order to enter the competition, and submit work, you must go to the NOPA website and put information about yourself into a form officially known as the “Entry Thingie.” The form asks for your name and e-mail address and requires users to create a password.

Entrance is open to current NOPA members. Applicants may join the Alliance, however, at the time of entry. The submission fee is $25 for members, and $60 with a new or renewed membership. With entry, you may submit five to ten images, ones that should form a cohesive body of work. An artist statement and a brief project description are required for consideration.

Notification of acceptance will be given on October 1.
