The New Orleans Photo Alliance is seeking atypical photo based work that incorporates photographic images in innovative ways. We are looking for images or objects that use materials as diverse as – but not limited to – paper, cloth, metal, wood, polymer, leaves, encaustic, etc, with photography as a main component of the final piece. Two and three dimensional works are eligible, but no LCD, video or projection.

Mr. Rubin served as Curator of Visual Arts at the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans from 2000-2006. From 1994-99, he was Curator of 20th Century Art at Phoenix Art Museum. Since 1980, Mr. Rubin has been a member of the International Association of Art Critics and, throughout the 1980s, he was a frequent contributor to Arts and Art in America magazines. Since 2001, he has been an international juror for the Florence Biennale. During his tenure at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans, Mr. Rubin organized numerous exhibitions, including “Photography Now”, an international survey of contemporary photography.
Selected entries will be exhibited during October and November, 2008 at the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery, and will also be featured on the New Orleans Photo Alliance website. The exhibition will take place during PROSPECT.1 New Orleans, “the largest biennial of international contemporary art ever organized in the United States,” and represents a great opportunity to have your work seen by art enthusiasts, curators and collectors from around the world.
