Farewells and Introductions at The Front | Jan 8th Farewells and Introductions features contemporary work in various media from Birmingham, AL non-profit gallery, Bare Hands. Bare Hands focuses on work from local Birmingham and regional artists and strives to educate the public about the cultural importance of contemporary art and artists in Alabama. Bare Hands closed on December 31st, 2010 but is now being introduced to New Orleans through this exhibition. Artists included in the exhibition are Victoria Hogan, Carolyn Sherer, Doug Baulos, Pinky Bass, Bonard Hughins, Byron Sonnier, Clayton Colvin, John Fields, Pat Snow, John Lytle Wilson, Kristin Smith Skees, Tracie Noles Ross and Wendi Flowers Goodwin, John Powers, and Aaron Lockhart.
Opening reception: Saturday January 8th, 6-10 pm, exhibit runs Jan. 8th – Feb. 6th.
The Front is located at 4100 St. Claude Ave and is open Saturday & Sunday from 12 to 5pm.

The Cumulous paper work by Brian Waitman opens at HomeSpace Jan. 8th. The Cumulous features Brian Waitman’s sculptures, which use found objects such as paper, wire and beer tabs. Waitman’s sculptures apply these objects to take on the character of amorphous rose bouquets that seem as if they were arranged from a wastebasket.
Opening reception: Saturday Jan. 8th, 6 – 9pm, exhibit runs Jan. 8th – Feb. 5th
