Oregon galleries seeking entries for ‘Photo⊕Craft 2’ exhibit

  • by

The Lightbox Photographic Gallery of Astoria, Ore., in association with Plates to Pixels, an online gallery from in-state neighbor Portland, is seeking entrants for Photo⊕Craft 2, a juried group exhibition.

The deadline for entry is midnight on Sunday, Aug. 11.

The exhibit is to run from September 14 to October 8 at the Lighbox gallery, with selections to be shown in concurring exhibit at the Plates to Pixels site. A Publisher’s Award will be granted to one photographer with selected work, and his or her selections will be featured in a special edition of Diffusion Magazine this September.

Serving as juror will be Blue Mitchell, the creator of Plates to Pixels and the editor of Diffusion Magazine.

“I hope to see work that challenges the viewer to think about photography as tool to deliver an emotion, a statement, or a passion and not just another ‘picture,'” Mitchell noted. “I’d like our viewers to forget they’re looking at a photograph because they’re so moved by its’ content and presence. I look forward to being moved myself.”

The competition is open to persons working in all mediums of photographic art, ranging from mixed media, alternative processes and innovative digital methods. Established and emerging photographic artists are invited to submit work.

Entry guidelines and an entry form can be found at the Lightbox Photographic Gallery website.
