If you’re serious about your photography and interested in getting it out into the wider world portfolio reviews are an excellent networking opportunity to receive critical feedback and make important connections. If you consider what it would cost to take one trip to another city to meet with an editor or curator, $400 for the chance to meet with 8 in one weekend is a very cost effective investment in your career.
We’ve got a real A list of reviewers coming to town, and I strongly encourage anyone who’s on the fence to take advantage of this opportunity. I’d be happy to talk to you about it if you have any questions. 504-269-9740.
The Photo Alliance will offer a free workshop on portfolio review preparation this Saturday for everyone who has registered. Victoria Ryan, who’s taught a Portfolio Course at the New Orleans Academy of Art for years, Louviere+ Vanessa who’s career was launched after attending Review Santa Fe, and myself (Jennifer Shaw) a veteran of two FotoFests and Photo Americas (now photolucida) will all be on hand to talk about the review process and offer advice on how to prepare and present your work to get the most out of your review experience. Participants are encouraged to bring their portfolios.
Please let us know in advance if you plan to attend.
