The 17th Annual Poydras Home Art Show, in association with the New Orleans Photo Alliance, is accepting entries for its photography exhibit. All entries must be submitted via the NOPA website and, as noted there, can only be submitted after filling out an official “Entry Thingy” account.
The deadline for entry is Sunday, Sept. 18. The show will be held from Friday, Nov. 4, through Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011.
There will be a maximum of 30 photographers selected to be in this show. Approximately three photographs from each photographer will be chosen by a New Orleans Photo Alliance Selection Committee
One photograph will be chosen for the $500 best-in-show prize, selected by the 17th. Annual Poydras Home Art Show juror, John Bullard, director of the New Orleans Museum of Art. This photograph will also be featured on Peggy Scott Laborde’s “Steppin Out” show. which will air on Crescent City public television station WYES at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4.
There is no theme to this exhibit. Photographers working in any genre or style, or any theme or technique, are eligible for entry.
Some other things to know about the competition:
- Juried photographers will be listed at the Poydras Home’s Web site, complete with links to their web sites (added marketing and publicity)
- Juried photographers will be listed in the NOPA Art Show Patron Party invitation, one that is to be mailed to over 1500 patrons and friends. They will also be listed on a NOPA art show postcard announcement, one to be mailed to over 5000 art lovers and friends of Poydras.
- Art show announcements are to be delivered to over 30 major hotel concierge desks in the French Quarter, as well as the Central Business District and Uptown.
- The show will also be advertised in St. Charles Avenue Magazine, New Orleans Magazine ,and Gambit Weekly.
