Programming Committee Meeting
I would like to extend an invitation to all members who are interested in being on the Programming Committee to attend a meeting next Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. (sharp!) at the NOPA Gallery, 1111 St. Mary St.
The Programming Committee is responsible for developing exhibitions, educational events, public forums, and exchange programs with other similar institutions.
The primary focus of this meeting will be to form subcommittees for the first three shows of 2009. Each subcommittee will be responsible for writing the call to artists, choosing and securing a juror, assisting the Exhibitions Coordinator in hanging the exhibit, overseeing the design and printing of the invite, etc. Lots of small jobs; all of them important! The general theme for Feb/Mar is “Desire”; April/May is TBD (a curated show?); June/July’s general theme is “Weddings”. We will begin working now so that our calls to artists go out 6 months prior to each exhibit. We also need to implement ways in which we can get our calls to artists out into the larger photo world so please bring some ideas for that.
Now that we have gotten through the dog days of summer we in Programming need to address our other responsibilities of providing educational events, public forums and exchange programs with other similar institutions. Let’s have a brainstorming session about various things we can do in this regard.
If you are unable to attend and want your ideas to be heard please email me @ thomnola@yahoo.com. I will present them for you.
Remember, your voice is the voice of the Photo Alliance so come and be heard. Look forward to seeing you there!
