Dear Southern Artists,
Southern Open 2007 was an overwhelming success; therefore I have decided to
make the exhibition an annual event! I would like to personally invite you
to be a part of Southern Open 2008 by sending in your submission today.
Juried by Peter Frank, an accomplished art critic from Los Angeles, Southern
Open 2008 will be held May 10 – July 26 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts
in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Southern Open is a competitive juried
exhibition that showcases the best of southern arts and crafts. Our Main
Gallery consisting over 5,000 square feet is the perfect setting for all
types of mediums: painting, photography, crafts, sculpture and multi-media
installations.
Once again, the exhibition is open to visual artists over 18 years of age
currently residing in one of the following southern states: Texas,
Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. No students, please.
This year we have increased the award amounts and are introducing Purchase
Awards, all of which will be announced at the exhibition’s opening
receptions on May 9th and 10th at the AcA.
Also new in 2008, AcA members may enter up to five free submissions.
Additional submissions, up to 10 total, are $5 each. Individual AcA
memberships are $50 for one year. If accepted into the exhibition, AcA
artist members will receive a complementary exhibition catalog, which is a
$35 value.
